One of the most symbolic and evocative places in the territory of Antillo is the Peace Bell, a unique monument dedicated to the missing victims of all wars. The idea of creating a commemorative bell was born in 1983 within the Antillo community with the aim of preserving the memory of those who disappeared in the many conflicts that have marked human history.

To bring this project to life, a special committee was established. Thanks to the support of the Municipality of Antillo, associations, institutions and private citizens, the committee commissioned a large bell in 1992 from the historic Pontifical Marinelli Foundry, one of the oldest bell foundries in the world. The bell weighs approximately five tons and has a circumference of six meters, making it not only a remarkable artistic creation but also a powerful symbol of peace and remembrance.

Before arriving in Antillo, the bell was blessed in 1993 by Pope John Paul II, adding further spiritual significance to the initiative. After several years of preparation, the bell was finally installed on Pizzo Monaco, a panoramic hill located in the heart of the Agrò Valley.

On September 21st, 2007, during the International Day of Peace promoted by the United Nations, the bell rang for the first time across the valley. Today the Peace Bell stands as a powerful symbol of reflection and unity. The location also represents a fascinating destination for hikers and visitors, as the paths leading to Pizzo Monaco cross beautiful landscapes of the Peloritani Mountains and offer breathtaking views that extend from the valley to the Ionian Sea.
